Particularly well-known and popular is the mighty pair of peaks of the small and large Mythen very close to the main town of Schwyz. Once at the top, you are offered a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding landscape and its diversity. Another impressive sight in the mountains is the Rigi, the so-called "Queen of the Mountains". The mountain massif is located between Lake Lucerne and Lake Zug and, in addition to a magnificent panoramic view, offers numerous activities such as hiking, skiing, paragliding and horse-drawn carriage rides. The car-free mountain village of Stoos with its ski areaId and the Muota Valley with its notorious "Wetterschmöckern" are also worth a visit. Those who would like to visit a distillery will find one along the Kirschstrasse, which runs through Schwyz and the surrounding cantons. In this hilly lake landscape, hikers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts in particular will find what they are looking for. A well-developed infrastructure of public transport
The ideal starting point for all these activities and sights is Schwyz, the main town of the canton, which itself has many places to visit. The little town is steeped in history and has, among other things, the Federal Charter Museum, where even the founding document of the Swiss Confederation is kept. If you want to learn more about the lifestyle of the former Swiss, you can do so in multimedia form in the Forum of Swiss History. Everyone has probably heard of Swiss mercenaries. During an economically difficult phase in the 16th century, many people from Schwyz also joined the war business and found their way back to their homeland as rich men, where they built magnificent houses that still characterise the townscape today. Also at home in Schwyz is one of the most important Swiss tourist goods, the pocket knife. If you want to experience real Swiss culture and history, this is the place to be.
